In the hot summer vacation of 2022, the GYLA summer program set sail again. 2022 is my second year working as a tutor in the GYLA program. I am even more enthusiastic about it now than last year. This year, 15 outstanding students from Nanjing University of Finance & Economics participated in the summer program for becoming talents with an international perspective. It is hoped that all students can gain more than expected through this extraordinary summer program.
Investigating the world by understanding global governance. The future belongs to aspiring youth. “Where can I use the knowledge I have learned?” “How can I help others with what I have learned?” These two issues should be seriously considered by nowadays youth. In recent years, United Nations wants to amplify youth voices, and support and empower youth participation in public life and organizations. GYLA provides a platform for students to systematically study global governance, sustainable development, leadership and management, social innovation, crisis management and cross-cultural communication. The global vision talents cultivated by the GYLA program are the backbone talents that our country needs.
Shaping your values and ideas by enhancing your professional knowledge and thinking independently. If youth want to speak on the international platform, in-depth study in the professional area, the ability to think independently and the ability to distinguish right from wrong are three indispensable preconditions. GYLA program can cultivate students' ability in an all-around way through numerous latest international examples.
Improving cross-cultural communication efficiency by learning different languages and cultures. How to speak properly on international occasions is a compulsory course for every youth who aspires to work for international organizations. The cross-cultural communication courses provided by GYLA can help youth to propose innovative ideas in a more appropriate way. At the same time, the English courses can lay a solid foundation for youth to work in an internationalized working environment in the future.
Taking action through theoretical study and practice. It is not enough for youth to have innovative ideas only on the world stage. Combining theoretical study with practical experience can help youth become more efficient. It is necessary to understand national conditions, learn international rules, and use international languages to speak for our country. The GYLA program allows youth to better understand international affairs and languages, assists youth in expressing themselves appropriately and enhances the efficiency of all actions.
I hope all students who take part in the GYLA summer program will be successful in their studies. In the future, more youth can be the voice of our country on the international stage.
