GYLA endeavors to offer diversified programs so that more young people can participate in and benefit GYLA activities. Three types of learning programs have been organized and implemented in collaboration with UN agencies, local governments, and academic institutions over the past years: offline, online programs, and international youth leadership forum/workshops. GYLA will also develop career coaching and mentoring program for GYLA graduates who aspire to work in the UN agencies and other international organizations.
Offline program is usually organized in Europe, particularly in the cities like Turin, Geneva, Lausanne and Vienna where participants can easily access the UN agencies and have the opportunity to visit and meet with the UN professionals. The offline program is implemented in winter and summer when universities are closed so that college students and young people have enough time to participate in intensive learning, training and study tour in Europe.
Training in class is composed of master class and breakout sessions. Mass class includes keynote speeches and panel discussions, breakout sessions focus on specific topics.
The local visits are organized to expose participants to observe and discover heritage of culture, arts, and history, and to network academic institutions, and enterprises.
The 3-5 day study visits are organized in the UN agencies to give participants the opportunity to meet UN officials and visit UN conference facilities and functions.
Since the eruption of the pandemic crisis, GYLA has transformed the learning program from only offline to distance learning. GYLA online becomes a new normal and will continue in parallel with offline learning even in the post-pandemic. GYLA will also create blended program combining offline and online program in the future so that more young people can have the opportunity to benefit from GYLA activities.
Knowledge and expertise acquisition cover 3Q, 3C and 3P, integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Methods are provided for participants to put what they learn in practice through group work and exercises.
The special assignments are given to participants to start up social and green enterprises by integrating 17 SDGs in the practice.
International Youth Leadership Forum is regularly organized each year in collaboration with academic institutions, governments, and the United Nations Agencies. The purpose is to reach out more young people and provide more opportunities for young people to participate in the engagement in global governance in different regions. GYLA will identify hosts from different countries, different academic institutions and youth organizations.
Keynote speakers are identified by the Committee from universities, UN agencies and governments, and young people to exchange their ideas and voices.
Panel Discussions are organized around some specific themes so that participants have opportunities to exchange information on common issues.
Youth Forum also offers an opportunity for young people to build network and connections with other youth organizations in different countries and regions.
