GYLA equips young people with systems thinking, growth mindsets, knowledge and technology to transform their lives and make contributions to SDGs and institutional changes. GYLA works with the UN agencies to develop and offer innovative learning and training programs for young people. Specifically, to develop a global grant system to finance research projects and grassroots action like social and green business startups led by young people, to join the Global Youth Community to provide a space that fosters youth to youth collaboration and inter-generational learning, and increases the visibility of youth action and work of young change-makers.
“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” (Franklin D. Roosevelt). GYLA endeavors to be a better builder than a program or an organization——maximizing the potential of today’s youth, realizing their professional greatness, and building them as systems thinkers, social innovators, change makers and future leaders for a better world.
The future of humanity and our planet lies in our hands. It lies also in the hands of today’s younger generation who will pass the torch to future generations. The United Nations has mapped the road to sustainable development; It will be for GYLA, together with all young people from all over the world to ensure that the journey is successful and its gains irreversible!
For over 70 years, the United Nations(UN) has been the for most international organization for pursuing peace, dignity and equality of mankind. Being aware of the importance of promoting prosperity while protecting the planet, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are promoted by the UN. Young people, accounting for 16 percent of the global population, are the most energetic group in changing the world and the partner of the UN in achieving the SDGs. The idea to promote the empowerment, development, and engagement of the youth, gives birth to the Global Youth Leadership Academy.
GYLA’s mission is to help the youth who has the potential to influence the world’s future and to help them make dreams come true.
Two big dreams of GYLA:
● To inspire and empower youth as future leaders and entrepreneurs for engagement in the achievement of SDGs.
● To collaborate with the United Nations and national governments to assist in developing and realizing a geographically diverse, gender-balanced, and multitalented workforce for the United Nations system and nations in the future
The objectives of GYLA are to inspire and empower young people to dream more, learn more, engage more, innovate more, achieve more and become more in the future through a series of learning programs. Specially, GYLA sets four development objectives for tomorrow’s leaders: to enable youth to become systems thinkers, change-makers, social innovators, and global leaders.
